“If you saw Atlas, the giant who holds the world on his shoulders, if you saw that he stood, blood running down his chest, his knees buckling, his arms trembling but still trying to hold the world aloft with the last of his strength, and the greater his effort the heavier the world bore down on his shoulders—what would you tell him to do?”

“To Shrug.”

so im at work at the dreaded time between Christmas and newyears when nothing is happening and i think i could have been more productive had i stayed in bed.

money though … need the money

so to be more productive im browsing 3SX.com (they sell proformance and racing parts for the stealth … stock parts too but thats not important) now … granted they are overpriced slightly but it give a good idea.

and wholy shit i can see how ppl can drop money so quick into this engine

to build a streetable-ish engine that would be lots of fun :) lets look at the cost

Bottom End
$ 909.95 - Dropped Forged Gen2 Crankshaft
$ 99.95 - Clevite bearing set
$ 1349.95 - Pauter Connecting rods
$ 949.95 - Ross custom pistons 11:1

Top End
$2795.95 - Stage 3 ported polished heads with oversized valves
$1349.95 - Webcam “Race Weld” camshafts
$149.95 (sale price) - Lifters “big bore”
$ 93.90 - Head Gaskets MLS
$ 349.95 (sale price) - Fidanza Aluminum adjustable cam gears
$ 329.95 - Head stud kit

$8379.45 - Total

just parts… just the engine. wow… no headers, no exhaust, or ignition, clutch, intake, or fuel system

granted the price heads could be done for about a grand to $1500 less with some common sense … like finding a decent shop to do the porting work instead of paying the 3SX guys for new. heads.

I think with a little time and looking elsewhere the cost could be dropped to about $3500 to $4000, which is far more reasonable.

but Amy’s happy right now … and I certainly don’t have $4000 laying around burning a hole in my pocket

thinking back to about a year ago

i was blind … i think the reason i didn’t see what was so obvious, so right infront of me, was that i couldnt imagine that this amazingly strong willed, misguided, heartbroken, speechlessly beautiful (inside and out) girl; that I had the most incredible conversations and conection with would want me to be the biggest part of their life.

she so obviously went for me besides putting up a frigging billboard saying “hey fuck head! this could be good! ask me out!!!”

I’m actually laughing today, wow.

i think i grew taller since then because that whole thing went right over my head haha

slip … smash knuckles, cut fingers. scratches and bruises

up to late … one more weld. one more bolt or nut. “yeah hun i know its midnight i’ll be there in a sec. i almost got it in. looks good eh?”

wake up blurry eyed … off to work. keep your hands below the table, didnt scrub hard enough.

it starts coming together and you see the light at the end of the tunnel getting brighter.

then you get that 1st peice back from the body shop. the perfect color, its exactly how you imagined it after staring at cars, pictures, coulor samples. pearls, kandy coulors, flakes, satin, gloss. sample paint chips.blacks reds purples greens and blues. narrowed down and finally you got it and its just right, just how you wanted it, how you dreamed about it.

it all seems worth it after that engine fires up … all the late nights with mornings that are to early. all the beers and steaks you had to shell out to get help from the boys moving or picking stuff up.

at the end of the day … you built how you wanted

and thats how it should be
